Maidy Santosa

Leading With Grace and Good Judgment

Maidy has an understated way about her that produces oversized results. She exemplifies the employee who’s a lifelong learner, a natural leader, a born mediator, and a technological virtuoso. Maidy has an innate sweetness that might appear soft but is actually a strength. She’s widely believed to encapsulate the H4S values of honorable, humble, healthy, hungry, and smart. And her career here has blossomed.

Maidy started at DWA in 2006 as an Applications Developer. She had previously served as Assistant Director for Electronic Communications at Purdue Alumni Association, where she was as the sole technical expert and was responsible for the association’s overall Web implementation and e-mail communications.

She was impressed with the company’s interview process. “It was a little intimidating, with the tests, job shadow and the panel interview. But I liked it. I liked the fact that they wanted to make sure that they not only had the right person for the job, but that I would be happy in the job.”
It was the same on her first day. “There was lots of training—preparing you to do your job. They didn’t just throw you in to figure it out on your own. Everything was thought through.”

Maidy continued to seek out the advanced training that the company offered through the Project Management Institute and in Lean Six Sigma (LSS). She’s a certified project management professional and a yellow belt in LSS. She was hungry to learn and improve. And she found that, while she enjoyed her work in informational technology (IT), she had a gift for project management. Today, she’s an account executive and a project lead who’s earned the admiration, respect, and friendship of her colleagues.

“There are career opportunities here that I couldn’t get with another company. I expected to build a career in IT because of my technical background, but I enjoy my new position even more.”

After working as a project manager on some IT projects, Maidy wanted to explore project management beyond the IT field, so she approached her manager and expressed her interest. When an opening occurred in the Strategic Brand Marketing team with Avant Healthcare Marketing, she was offered the job if she was willing to transfer. She thought it could be a steppingstone to understanding the Avant business. It was that steppingstone, as well as the bridge to her new career outside of IT.

“Becoming a project lead is a challenge. The cross-functional team here has helped me through it. I rely so much on them. They’re the real experts.”
Maidy sees her strengths as getting the job done, taking care of the client and the team, and paying attention to the little details people often miss.

Her word for DWA? Growth.

“My experience is an example of how employees can grow in their career and pursue their passion. There’s opportunity here.”
